Obviously ideally we’d name all our tracks appropriately, but if we’re honest for a minute then we can agree that we’re not perfect and don’t always do that. Sometimes we’re in the flow, sometimes we’re just lazy.
Regardless of the reason, this can sometimes make for some absolutely horrific sessions. Managing all our sounds can get really unwieldy and before we know it, we can be lost in a sea of tracks or subprojects and not be able to clearly identify what a sound is to us when we’ve pulled it out of our library with a long name or it’s labeled “MONO_034.wav”
What’s even worse is that when we try and get organized, REAPER doesn’t exactly make it simple for us
We can utilize the track manager and rename tracks one by one, jumping between each with the tab key – but that’s slow, tedious, and fails to rename items as well. The last thing we want to find ourselves doing is spending hours renaming tracks and items just to feel more organized and clean.
If only we could have a simple way to name tracks and items with a simple prefix, numbering system, and maybe even a postfix – all with a single button press…
